Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health’s Winchester Hospital is seeking a Per Diem Day Transport Associate. You will roam the hospital to move equipment, assist with patient transfers, and support throughput while ensuring dignity, safety, and timely handoffs upon arrival.

Responsibilities include replenishing code carts, coordinating with departments, and assisting with discharge transports. Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and BLS certification, with preference for prior transport experience.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Experience in patient transportation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Round the hospital to assess transport inventory and move equipment to optimize operations.
• Greet and inform patients about move process, ensuring safety and dignity.
• Transfer patients from bed to stretcher or wheelchair with clinical staff assistance.
• Push patient and chart to departments while conveying empathy and reassurance.
• Notify receiving department and conduct thorough handoffs on arrival.
• Assist with discharge transports and help patients into their vehicle as needed.
• Prioritize transport requests to reduce wait times and improve patient/family satisfaction.
• Retrieve fresh code carts during pages and replenish department supplies.
• Transport items throughout the hospital including lab specimens and pharmacy supplies.
• Respond to equipment issues promptly to maximize equipment availability.
