Job summary

The Hughston Clinic is seeking a dedicated Patient Transporter to move patients, equipment, and specimens safely within the hospital. Under supervision, you will assist patients in and out of bed and transport them between departments, radiology, and surgery areas, ensuring courteous service and infection control.

Requirements include at least one year of relevant experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and BLS certification prior to transporting patients without clinical staff.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in a comparable role within the last three years.
• High school education or equivalent.
• BLS certification for healthcare workers required.
• Certification must be obtained before transporting a patient without clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Identify self to staff on unit and retrieve patient charts as needed.
• Transfer patient from bed to stretcher or wheelchair following infection control rules.
• Ensure correct patient identification before shifting or transporting.
• Notify receiving staff of patient arrival and assist as needed.
• Provide courteous, safe transport of patients, equipment, and specimens.
• Clean and maintain stretchers, wheelchairs and related equipment.
• Transport patients to Radiology, OR, or outpatient areas as required.
• Support throughput improvements and patient satisfaction goals.
