Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a Centralized Transporter to move patients safely within the facility and assist with non-clinical tasks to support care delivery.

The role requires attention to patient safety, ability to handle equipment and charts, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team. Candidates should have a high school diploma and BLS certification; prior patient-care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required.
• Previous experience in a patient care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients safely and effectively by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed.
• Exercises caution with IV lines, pumps, monitors, and other devices.
• Transports specimens and equipment as assigned.
• Maintains awareness of isolation precautions and protective requirements.
• Observes patient comfort and status at arrival and during transport.
• Brings patients’ charts and records with them.
• Reviews orders and status with unit staff before moving a patient.
• Relays critical information to staff upon entry or return.
• Performs clerical and non-clinical tasks to support patient care.
• Keeps transport equipment and supplies stocked and functional.
• Cleans and reports routine maintenance on transport equipment.
