Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a part-time Patient Transport member to move patients and equipment to and from examinations and treatments across inpatient, outpatient, ED, and ICU areas.

You will assist patients, coordinate with medical staff, and help maintain clean equipment and work areas while adhering to safety and confidentiality standards. The role includes support for discharge processes and flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• Successfully complete three months of on-the-job training.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS within 90 days of hire.
• Understands and demonstrates safe lifting and transport techniques.
• Knows and practices Universal Precautions as appropriate.
• Demonstrates communication skills with patients, families, and staff.
• Ability to follow directions and HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
• Recognizes patient stress and seeks assistance when needed.
• Experience in patient transportation in an acute hospital environment (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Transport patients and equipment to and from testing and procedure areas including inpatient, outpatient, ED and ICU.
• Assist patients in and out of cars and beds using wheelchairs or moveable beds.
• Prepare patients for transport and identify patients before moving them.
• Communicate with medical staff to ensure proper transport of supplies and medications.
• Assist in discharge processes and spacings for timely patient flow.
• Maintain clean and disinfected equipment and work areas.
• Participate in safety initiatives and complete required competencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
