Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with additional patient-care credentials.
• Minimum 2 years direct patient care in a hospital setting or approved nursing aide training.
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) per MS Department of Health is acceptable.
• UMMC student externship or PCT training program qualifies.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, mobility).
• Measure and report vital signs to nursing staff.
• Perform basic patient care procedures per policies and competencies.
• Collect and transport specimens as needed.
• Assist with patient transport for tests and procedures.
• Support clinical staff with procedures and patient care activities.
• Perform point-of-care testing and other technical duties as assigned.
• Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records.
• Respond to call lights and communicate patient needs to the team.
• Maintain safe, clean patient environment and infection control practices.
• Assist with unit operations including stocking supplies and inventory.
