Job summary

UMMC is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Adult Acute Care – Progressive Care Unit (4 North) on Main Campus Jackson. The role provides direct patient care under RN supervision, performing clinical and supportive duties to ensure safe, compassionate care for a diverse patient population.

The PCT will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, aid procedures, transport patients, and help maintain equipment and supplies, while adhering to infection control practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required; two years of direct patient care experience in hospital setting preferred.
• Completion of Nursing Aide clinical training program approved by MS Department of Health or CNA certification required.
• UMMC Student Nurse Externship or Patient Care Technician training program acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate patient care and support to patients and families.
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, mobility).
• Measure, record, and report vital signs to the nurse or healthcare team.
• Perform basic patient care procedures and treatments per policies and competencies.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records and assist with specimen transport as needed.
• Respond to call lights and communicate patient needs to the health care team.
