Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a Regular worker to provide routine patient care and support services under nurse or physician direction. Shifts rotate 6AM-2:30PM and 2PM-10:30PM, with every third weekend/holiday rotation, totaling 32 hours biweekly.

The role emphasizes compassionate, compliant care across patient tasks and clerical duties. The position requires the ability to communicate clearly, function as part of a care team, and meet safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification/licensing.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and team.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe direct patient care: ambulating, bathing, positioning, and feeding.
• Responds promptly to call lights and protects patient valuables.
• Greets visitors, answers inquiries, and assists with errands as needed.
• Ambulates patients, measures intake/output, and assists with transports as needed.
• Answers phones, operates paging, and supports station during emergencies.
• Prepares requisitions and coordinates appointments with departments.
• Schedules outpatient appointments and handles basic charting tasks.
• Requests services (Chaplain, social services, pastoral care) as directed.
