University of Mississippi Medical Center seeks a Patient Care Technician for the Adult Acute Care - Progressive Care Unit (4 North). The PCT provides direct patient care under RN supervision, monitoring vitals, assisting procedures, and ensuring patient comfort and safety in a diverse patient population.

Required: high school diploma/GED with a CNA or equivalent training and MS Health-approved program; Basic Life Support; strong communication and data entry skills; willingness to support unit

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED with required experience or training.
• Two years direct patient care experience in a hospital or CNA program.
• Nursing Aide program approved by MS Department of Health or CNA certification.
• UMMC Student Nurse Externship or PCT training program or equivalent.

Responsabilidades

• Provide compassionate patient care by addressing concerns, answering questions, and offering emotional support to patients and families.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility.
• Measure, record, and report vital signs and changes in patient condition to the nurse or healthcare team.
• Perform basic patient care procedures and treatments per established policies and competencies.
• Collect and transport specimens as needed.
• Assist with patient transport for tests, procedures, and transfers within the facility.
• Support clinical staff with procedures, treatments, and patient care activities.
• Perform point-of-care testing and other technical duties as assigned.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation in electronic health records.
• Respond to call lights and communicate patient needs to appropriate team members.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient environment and infection control practices.
• Assist with unit operations, stocking supplies, inventory, and clerical functions as needed.
• Serve as a resource or preceptor to new staff as assigned.
