Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a nursing assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with unit coordination in a hospital setting. The role includes basic nursing procedures for stable patients, documentation in the EMR, and collaboration with RNs in care of acutely ill patients.

Responsibilities include vital signs, activities of daily living, documentation, and participation in patient safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Limited or no experience: must attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as: activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, blood glucose testing, and point of care testing.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives such as bedside shift report and hourly rounding promoting safety and cleanliness.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimens and treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment/appliance cleaning and retrieval.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
