Job summary

Duke University Health System in Durham, NC is seeking a Nursing Assistant I to provide direct patient care under RN/LPN supervision. You will assist with routine daily tasks, monitor patients, and document care in the electronic health record in a busy hospital setting.

The role requires strong documentation skills, adherence to infection control, and the ability to assist with mobility and comfort measures for acutely ill patients.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic patient care and comfort standards.
• Ability to document patient care in the electronic health record.
• Understanding of infection control and safety precautions.
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking and to assist with patient mobility.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures and provide manual assistance.
• Record patient data for medical records and inform RN/LPN of changes.
• Administer basic care including feeding, bathing, dressing, hygiene, and comfort measures.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, and positioning of patients.
• Take and record vital signs and report changes in condition.
• Assist with admission, discharge, and transportation of patients.
• Maintain unit cleanliness and restock supplies and equipment.
