Job summary

Duke Health in Durham, NC seeks a Nursing Assistant I to support patient care alongside RNs and LPNs. Responsibilities include direct care, data collection for records, and maintaining patient dignity and safety.

Qualifications

• Currently listed as a Nursing Assistant I (NA I) with the NC DHHS, Division of Health Service Regulation with no substantiated findings of abuse, fraud, neglect or misappropriation of property.
• BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by the end of new hire orientation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures and provide manual assistance.
• Obtain and record patient data for medical records noting information for RN/LPN.
• Administer routine and personal care including feeding, bathing, dressing, mobility and hygiene.
• Assist with examinations by positioning patients and applying non-sterile dressings.
• Take and record vital signs, document I&O, and report changes in patient condition.
• Assist with admission, discharge, and transportation of patients.
• Collect, deliver and conduct routine tests on patient specimens; stock supplies.
• Engage in professional development and support training for others.
• May perform clean dressing changes for wounds over 48 hours old.
• Other duties incidental to the role.
