Job summary

United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia, seeks a patient care associate to support licensed staff in delivering high-quality care. You will assist with admissions, routine patient care, vital signs, hygiene, and comfort measures, while maintaining a safe clinical environment and communicating with the RN about changes in patient condition.

Qualified candidates have a High School Diploma and BLS certification, with preferred experience in patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.
• Records oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure and other monitoring).
• Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
• Reports equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates nutrition concerns to RN, including appetite changes.
• Assists department with administrative tasks and answers call bells.
