Job summary

Bridgeport Hospital, part of Yale New Haven Health, seeks a Patient Care Associate to support nurses in delivering high-quality patient care. Under RN supervision, you will gather vitals, assist with treatments, and help maintain safety and efficiency on the unit.

Responsibilities include effective communication with patients and staff, participating in handoffs, and rotating to meet care needs. BLS certification is required and must be kept current throughout employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CNA/EMT or clinical healthcare experience considered.
• Two years of direct patient care experience or equivalent education as stated.
• BLS training required and to be maintained during employment.

Responsibilities

• Under RN supervision, perform duties to support patient care.
• Record vital signs as ordered or delegated.
• Assist with patient care activities and treatments as directed by RN.
• Communicate with patients, families, and staff professionally.
• Relocate and rotate to meet patient care needs.
• Handle non-therapeutic tasks and relay medications from pneumatic tube to nursing staff.
