Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support the patient care team under the direction of the registered nurse. The PCA provides ADL assistance, mobility support, and continuous observation to designated patients while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Required are a current BLS certification, knowledge of relevant patient care procedures, and strong interpersonal skills to manage a high workload in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to withstand high levels of tension and stress.
• Ability to maintain concentration with interruptions and variable noise.
• Judgment and initiative in problem resolution.
• Prioritization and ability to manage a high workload within time constraints.
• Knowledge of patient care procedures, equipment, and software relevant to non-licensed roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide activities of daily living assistance and mobility support to designated patients as part of the patient care team.
• Maintain continuous observation, including suicide prevention measures.
• Ensure patient surroundings are clean, orderly, and safe.
