Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Med-Surg Unit at St. Charles Hospital. You will support RN staff, monitor vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and ensure patient comfort and safety.

As part of a faith-based, patient-centered team, you’ll participate in hand-offs, document care, and help maintain a healing environment. EPIC training is preferred; BLS is recommended; previous acute care experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner.
• Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including hygiene, comfort, vital signs and mobility assistance.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely in the chart.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information on arrival and departure.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated and uses therapeutic transfer techniques.
• Individually tailors care based on patient interests and needs.
