Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care and support on the unit. Responsibilities include multi-skill tasks, EKG procedures, routine vital signs, and safety compliance under the guidance of RNs.

The role requires non-graduate status and facilitates collaboration with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to ensure high-quality patient care and timely treatments.

Qualifications

• Proficient in reading and writing in English.
• Ability to maintain professional composure in medium to high-stress situations.

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate care to patients.
• Monitors vital signs and records measurements.
• Administers treatments and procedures per Baystate Health System policy/procedure.
• Assists with elimination and specimen handling.
• Performs Point of Care (POC) testing as applicable.
• Assists in delivery of ancillary services as directed.
• Communicates effectively with team and patients.
• Initiates emergency procedures and maintains patient safety.
• Functions as a member of the team and assists with non-clinical activities.
• Completes clinical recognition program for career ladder level.
• Demonstrates competency for one-to-one observation of patients.
• Demonstrates competency in performing EKG based on department/unit needs.
