Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a patient care tech for the Med Surg Infectious Disease Unit in Mount Holly. You will assist with activities of daily living and support the healthcare team to deliver safe, compassionate care.

Responsibilities include vital signs, specimen processing as needed, and notifying RNs of changes in patient status. Requires BLS and relevant CNA/PCT credentials; on-site day shift with a 12-hour schedule.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates required knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures and standards.
• Must have strong communication skills.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have completed a PCT course, RN fundamentals course, CNA program, or 1 year direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Supports activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, mobility).
• Maintains standard precautions, including isolation and safe practice.
• Performs duties like vital signs, point-of-care testing, bladder scanning, Foley care as directed.
• May perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified.
• Communicates changes in patient status to RN/LPN and responds appropriately.
• Reinforces patient and family education on care needs and safety.
• Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives and improvement activities.
• Assists in orientation of new hires.
