Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support nursing staff under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The PCT will measure and document vital signs, assist with daily tasks and move or reposition patients as needed.

This role emphasizes compassionate patient care, clear communication with the care team, and maintaining clean rooms. Minimum training includes a high school diploma; BLS certification required upon hire and maintained.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of patient care experience in a health care facility or CNA preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized.
• Assist patients with daily needs and personal hygiene.
• Monitor vital signs and report patient condition.
• Assist nursing staff with basic treatments.
• Ensure rooms have adequate supplies and clean linen.
• Provide emotional support and communicate with care team.
• Place patient on cardiac monitor as needed.
• Assist with drains, ostomies, and Foley bags.
• Perform blood sugar checks.
• Support department leadership with other duties.
