Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support nursing staff and deliver patient-centered care in the Specialty Service. The role includes assisting with daily living activities, collecting specimens, performing procedures such as venipuncture and EKG, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

You will aid with feeding, mobility, and repor ting changes to the RN/Dietitian, while ensuring cultural sensitivity and confidentiality in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (graduate or equivalent).
• Certificate of completion of a medical assistant/patient care assistant program/equivalent with skills in venipuncture and EKG.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively with other members of the Specialty Service.
• Documentation of Medical Assistant/Patient Care Associate training
• Three to nine months of healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to set priorities, problem solve, use proper judgement in difficult situations and be flexible
• Sufficient oral and writing skills in the English language in order to communicate effectively.
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform a variety of tasks and skills in the area of assignment
• American Heart Association Heartsaver or BLS Certification

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with patient care activities and daily living.
• Perform clinical procedures such as venipuncture and EKG, specimen collection.
• Record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and assist with patient mobility and room care.
• Transport patients and medical equipment as needed.
• Answer calls and relay information to appropriate staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow compliance policies.
• Participate in department performance improvement activities.
