Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support the clinical care team in a busy New York hospital environment. You will assist RNs with daily patient care activities, perform vital sign checks, and help with procedures such as venipuncture and EKG while maintaining a safe and clean patient care area.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (graduate or equivalent).
• Certificate of completion of a medical assistant/patient care assistant program/equivalent with skills in venipuncture and EKG.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate with the Specialty Service team.
• Documentation of MA/PCA training.
• 3–9 months healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to set priorities and solve problems with good judgement.
• Fluent English, both oral and written.
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity for patient care tasks.
• American Heart Association Heartsaver or BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with patient care and activities of daily living.
• Record vital signs and intake/output as assigned.
• Obtain pain ratings as part of routine assessments.
• Perform procedural assistance such as venipuncture and EKG.
• Transport patients and deliver meals and supplies as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean patient environment and assist with room turnover.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
• Participate in department performance improvement activities.
