Job summary

Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to serve as the welcoming first point of contact, handling front desk tasks and clinical support within our health centers. You will ensure smooth patient flow and professional, confidential care during visits.

The role involves assisting providers, taking vitals, documenting in EHR, and supporting consent processes while upholding our mission of accessible, judgment-free care for all.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; medical assistant training preferred.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Customer service or healthcare experience strongly preferred.
• Comfort working with diverse patient populations.
• Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stay active through shift.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients as the first point of contact.
• Check patients in/out, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and assist walk-ins.
• Document patient information accurately in EHR and maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Take and record vital signs; collect medical history per protocol.
• Assist providers during exams and procedures.
• Provide patient education and support informed consent workflows.
• Perform waived and moderately complex lab testing.
• Process refill requests and contraceptive supply sales; manage cash handling.
• Maintain cleanliness, stock supplies, and follow OSHA and safety protocols.
• Support team members and assist with resolving patient concerns.
