Job summary

Harris Health System is seeking a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) to support patient care activities in the clinic setting and on inpatient units under the supervision of a registered nurse.

The PCA I collaborates with the charge nurse and staff nurses to meet patient needs, demonstrates basic medical terminology, communication, organizational, and computer skills, and adheres to patient safety measures.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED or technical skills/training appropriate to the specialty area.
• Licensure/Certification: Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant; nursing students may be exempt under certain conditions.
• Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association program.
• Other certificates as required by unit/service/clinic.
• Work Experience: One year related clinical experience preferred.
• SAMA certification within 90 days of hire.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation required within 6 months of hire.
