Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin, IL, part of the Prime Healthcare network, is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for a part-time daytime role. The position supports patients with activities of daily living and basic nursing care under RN supervision, in a hospital setting.

Requirements include a high school diploma, Illinois CNA certification, BLS within 30 days, and familiarity with medical terminology; phlebotomy and EKG certifications are preferred. Competitive benefits available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Illinois approved Certification required.
• Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.
