Job summary

Aurora Health Care in Wisconsin seeks a Patient Care Assistant to support RNs in daily patient care, charting in EMR, and basic clinical tasks. You will assist with bathing, feeding, mobility, and data collection in a team-focused environment.

Responsibilities include rounding, admissions/discharges, specimen collection, and inventory support. The role emphasizes infection prevention, patient safety, and age-appropriate care under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills to document in EMR and manage daily tasks.
• Excellent oral and written communication with patients and staff.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities in a busy ward.
• Certification Addendum and hospital-based certification upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with daily patient care including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding and ambulation.
• Measure and document vitals and other patient data in EMR as requested.
• Perform purposeful rounding and promptly communicate observations to the RN.
• Participate in admission, transfer and discharge processes under RN supervision.
• Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens and perform point-of-care testing as indicated.
• Run errands, stock nursing area, and clean equipment and work areas.
• Assist with patient positioning, transfers, and nutrition-related tasks as directed.
• Maintain skin integrity and manage equipment such as TED hose and sequential devices.
• Follow infection prevention policies and ensure age-appropriate patient care.
• May assist with IV removal, post mortem care, and bladder scans as required.
