Job summary

Marshall Medical Centers in Alabama is seeking a Patient Care Aide to assist RNs and LPNs with basic patient care tasks under supervision. You will support hygiene, feeding, mobility, and documentation, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

The role requires CPR certification (or ability to certify within 90 days), flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays, and the ability to stay calm under pressure while providing compassionate care to acutely ill patients.

Qualifications

• CPR certification or capability to certify within 90 days.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Certification by state exam or National Certification or nursing school coursework may satisfy requirements.
• Ability to work assigned shifts, weekends, and holidays; work under occasional stress.

Responsibilities

• Provide hygiene care assistance and position patients for proper alignment; care for patient in isolation.
• Assist with nutritional/hydration needs.
• Assist with elimination and correctly collect and label specimens.
• Support patient transport and assist with transfers and discharges; assist with ambulation.
• Communicate patient status and progress to the primary nurse and with patients, families, and hospital team.
• Obtain vital signs on admission and as directed; assist in admission, transfer and discharge.
• Explain care to patient and family; answer questions within scope of practice.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stress; respond to emergencies.
• Documentation meets current standards and policies; utilize resources appropriately.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the Patient Care Aide scope of practice.
