Job summary
Marshall Medical Centers, an affiliate of the Huntsville Hospital Health System, is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff in the Lake Guntersville area.
You will assist with activities of daily living and basic nursing tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, including bathing, feeding, turning and positioning, ambulation and transfers, specimen collection, measuring intake and output, toileting, weighing patients, and transporting them during admission and
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or Equivalent preferred.
- After orientation must demonstrate competence in skills and knowledge required of the position of a patient care assistant.
Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Bathing patients and personal hygiene, including nailcare and mouthcare.
- Serve meals and assist with feeding.
- Turn and position patients to prevent bedsores.
- Assist with ambulation and transfers from bed to chair.
- Collect specimens as directed.
- Measure and record intake and output.
- Assist with toileting needs.
- Weigh patients and monitor weight changes.
- Distribute ice and transport patients during admission and discharge.
