Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Redding is seeking an Unit Aide to provide essential non-clinical support to patients and staff, assisting with basic patient care under the direction of a Staff Nurse and helping with transportation, comfort needs, and unit operations.

You will perform ADL tasks, document patient records according to hospital policy, participate in staff development, and communicate with the healthcare team to maintain an organized, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED is required.
• Previous Unit Aide experience preferred; training may be provided for non-experienced incumbents.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with basic patient care under the direction of the RN, including patient ADL routine and vital signs.
• Completes patient records and documentation according to hospital policy.
• Supports professional growth by engaging in available training opportunities.
• Participates in peer review and staff development activities and quality process improvements.
• Advocates for patient rights and helps resolve conflicts with guidance as needed.
• Communicates effectively with other members of the healthcare team to maintain unit efficiency.
