Job summary

Bristol Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to register patients, verify demographics and insurance, and collect copays at the time of service.

You will support clinical staff, answer calls promptly, refer uninsured or under-insured patients to the Financial Counselor, and may rotate to other departments as needed.

The role requires strong communication, computer skills, and the ability to work in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduate; knowledge of medical terminology, pre-admission, and insurance preferred.
• Requires good written and verbal communication skills.
• Understands impact of patient registration on the financial revenue cycle.
• Knowledge of online computer systems and applications (PC literacy).

Responsibilities

• Register patients presenting for hospital services and collect copay/deductibles.
• Verify demographics and insurance information and obtain signatures.
• Answer telephone inquiries in a courteous and timely manner.
• Identify uninsured/under-insured patients and refer to Financial Counselor as needed.
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, clinical staff and management; promote teamwork.
• Perform miscellaneous duties and handle a busy, sometimes stressful environment with tact.
