Job summary

Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin is seeking an Organ Donation Specialist to lead the screening, evaluation, and clinical management of potential organ donors. The role requires sensitivity and empathy when supporting donor families and a collaborative approach with transplant teams.

Responsibilities include coordinating the donation process, documenting medical data, and ensuring regulatory compliance while maintaining Versiti’s customer service standards and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Graduate from RN, NP, PA, CCP-C, or Human Donation Science program.
• 1–3 years of critical care experience required.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the organ donation process including screening for medical suitability, clinical assessment, and medical management of donor candidate.
• Collect and document donor medical data and history and communicate with transplant/procurement teams.
• Meet with potential donor families to offer donation and obtain consent.
• Ensure organ allocation in accordance with OPTN policies and work with surgical teams and family to plan recovery.
• Support education of healthcare professionals and the public about organ donation.
