Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff by performing vital signs, patient hygiene, and unit maintenance. The role includes stocking supplies, operating hospital equipment, and handling routine clerical tasks to ensure smooth patient care.

Ideal candidates hold a CNA certification or are enrolled in a nursing program with clinical exposure, and possess English fluency, basic medical terminology knowledge, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
• Must be Certified Nurses Assistant or enrolled in accredited nursing prog. with completion of at least 1 clinical semester
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting
• Nursing Assistants hired prior to May 2010 who did not possess certification as a Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) are not required to obtain it at this time
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way
• Current BLS certification upon hire (must be issued by the AHA)
• Approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Stock unit supplies and operate hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks and other duties as assigned.
