Job summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a Per Diem Nursing Assistant I for the Same Day Surgery unit at Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC. You will provide routine direct and indirect patient care under supervision of a registered nurse or physician across multiple service lines including Orthopedics, General, GYN, robotics, neuro, ENT, vascular and ophthalmology.

Qualifications

• Certification as Nursing Assistant I per NC DHHS.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Six months nursing assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures and obtain equipment during emergencies.
• Provide care in psychiatric settings including patient orientation, behavior modification support, de-escalation, and monitoring of therapeutic milieu.
• Observe, document patient information and report changes to RN or physician.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge from clinical areas.
• Provide routine care: vital signs, measurements, specimen collection, wound care, ROM exercises, and supportive interactions.
• Assist with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation.
• Maintain clean work areas, restock supplies, transport patients/items, and support new staff orientation.
• Reinforce patient education and distribute educational materials.

Fluent in English

Basic computer skills

6 months nursing assistant experience

Education

Nursing Assistant I licensure (NC DHHS)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
