The role emphasizes patient transport, vital signs, and accurate reporting of findings. Requires CNA, BLS, and at least one year of clinical experience or completion of an intern program.

Qualifications

• CNA certification is required.
• BLS certification provided by AHA, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
• One year of clinical experience required or successful completion of the intern program.

Responsibilities

• Assist the patient with changing/dressing.
• Transport the patient by stretcher, bed, or wheelchair.
• Identify abnormal findings that could affect surgical and patient outcomes (vital signs, Accucheck, labs, EKG, CXR).
• Report all abnormal findings to the appropriate nursing staff.
• Escort patients to holding rooms.
• Assist with patient changing and removal of belongings (jewelry, dentures, contacts, etc.).
• Verify patient information.
• Orient patients and families to the environment.
• Obtain vital signs.
