Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum Education/Experience required: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required – will obtain during hospital orientation.
• Maintains compliance in RQI required.
• Special Knowledge, Skills, Training: Interpersonal skills, clerical, numerical and manual dexterity, color vision and near visual acuity.
• Proper lifting techniques and body mechanics.
• Ability to read, write and do math as generally demonstrated by a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Performs hourly rounding.
• Maintains chart order, answers telephones, and enters written physician orders in Meditech.
• Coordinates patient flow and information with the charge nurse to maintain inter-department communication.
• Assists with all aspects of patient care and non-patient care (e.g. cleanliness, supplies) within scope of practice as assigned by RN and documents in Meditech.
• Assists with patient/family teaching as appropriate.
• Maintains supplies and equipment.
• Enters daily outpatient and observation room charges.
• Complies with safety and infection control standards related to position.
• Uses appropriate interpersonal communication to foster productive relationships with team members.
• Maintains open lines of communication with staff and addresses unclear communications.
