Job summary

Massachusetts Department of Public Health seeks a Mental Health Worker I for Pocasset Mental Health Center on the night shift (11:15pm–7:15am), 24 hours per week. The role provides direct patient care, assists with daily living activities, maintains records, and supports treatment plans within an inpatient setting.

Candidates should be able to follow instructions, communicate clearly, and work with individuals experiencing emotional stress.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Capacity to perform basic mathematics.
• Proven ability to observe and question individuals.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to stay calm in stressful or emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and assist clients in learning daily living skills.
• Support rehabilitative/behavioral interventions and discuss treatment plans.
• Perform housekeeping duties in patient areas as assigned.
• Maintain patient records using unit protocols.
• Attend interdisciplinary review meetings as a team member.
• Accompany patients to appointments and ensure proper paperwork.
• Organize leisure activities to enhance socialization and functioning.
