Qualifications

• Must possess high school education or equivalent.
• Must be a licensed medication tech with state-approved training and exam.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Follow the facility's policies for administering medications.
• Note and report errors in medication administration.
• Develop and implement procedures to determine what medication errors occur and how to prevent them.
• Complete necessary forms, charts, reports, and submit as required.
• Document drug receipt errors with written reports.
• Accurately measure, record, and report residents' vital signs.
• Notify the Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, or Director of Nursing Services of any errors or reactions.
• Record orders in the resident's clinical record including type, route, dosage, frequency, and strength.
