Job summary

WellMed in Arlington is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care under supervision, including rooms setup, specimen collection, and basic procedures. This role emphasizes adherence to infection control, patient privacy, and collaborative care with physicians and nurses.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, BLS, and MA certification (or within 180 days). Experience with medical terminology and basic Excel skills is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills
• TB screening and immunity requirements per policy

Responsibilities

• Performs duties within Medical Assistant scope of practice and assists physicians/nursing staff
• Rooms patients and prepares for examination
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and policies
• Maintains patient confidentiality and professional conduct
• Organizes exam rooms, stocks, cleans, and sterilizes equipment
• Maintains infection control procedures
• Performs intake screening and data gathering
• Follows Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO)
• Performs other related duties as assigned
