Job summary

WellMed at Stone Oak is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care under supervision of a provider. You will perform clinical tasks, prepare patients, and assist in the clinical environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, current Medical Assistant and BLS certifications, medical terminology knowledge, and strong communication skills. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is available for external candidates, with comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proven basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Proven good communication and customer service skills.
• This position requires TB screening and immunity proof for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis.

Responsibilities

• Operates diagnostic equipment and performs tasks such as removing staples from superficial wounds, changing dressings, collecting cultures, administering non-intravenous medications, collecting specimens and blood, performing EKGs.
• Rooms patients for examination and prepares them for assessment.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and policies.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and provides courteous, respectful care.
• Organizes exam and treatment rooms, stocks supplies, and sterilizes instruments.
• Follows standard infection control precautions.
• Screening during intake and information gathering.
• Supports and follows Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
