Job summary

VillageMD in Houston, TX is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care and enhance the patient experience. You will welcome patients, prepare them for visits, and clearly communicate the services they will receive.

Responsibilities include point-of-care tests, EKGs, phlebotomy, vital signs, and room preparation. A nationally certified or registered medical assistant, BLS, and 1 year of relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Nationally Certified or Registered Medical Assistant is required.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers.
• 1 year of experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care or ER preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes and prepares the patient for their appointment and provides clear information about services.
• Performs point-of-care tests, EKGs as ordered, suture/staple removal and dressing changes.
• Collects and documents vital signs, histories and screenings.
• Authorizes prescription refills as directed.
• Prepares patients, rooms and supplies for visits.
• Performs phlebotomy and processes specimens.
• Maintains clean and stocked treatment rooms and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
