Job summary

VillageMD is seeking a Medical Assistant in Houston to support patients, welcome and prepare them for visits, and clearly communicate services to be provided. You will help build trust by delivering compassionate, accurate care and by supporting the provider throughout patient encounters.

The ideal candidate is nationally certified or registered as a Medical Assistant, holds current BLS, and has experience in primary care settings.

Qualifications

• Nationally Certified or Registered Medical Assistant is required.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers is required.
• 1 year of experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience required.
• High School Diploma/Equivalency required.
• Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care or ER preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform point-of-care laboratory tests, EKGs as ordered or indicated, suture/staple removal, dressing changes, and other patient care activities.
• Collect and document vital signs, histories, and screenings.
• Authorize prescription refills as directed.
• Prepare patients, room, and supplies for visits or examinations.
• Perform phlebotomy and correctly processes specimens.
• Cleans and maintains treatment rooms and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned
