Job summary

Comprehensive Community Action Program (CCAP) in Cranston, RI is seeking a Medical Assistant to support busy health centers. You will gather demographics, take vitals, assist providers, and document in the EMR while maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements include high school diploma or GED, MMR and TB, CPR/BLS, and bilingual Spanish a plus. This full-time position offers benefits and opportunities to grow within CCAP.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
• Triage skills.
• MMR and TB.
• Organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills for all levels of client, provider and colleague interaction.
• Professional telephone manner.
• Current CPR (BLS) certifications.
• Bilingual / Bicultural Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process patients in a timely manner, assist providers and patients, respect the confidentiality of agency and clients.
• Receive and process patients, take vitals (BP, Wt., Ht., Pulse and Temp.).
• Obtain and record patient data in EMR (Vitals, Social Hx’s, PHQ’s, Lab results).
• Perform routine diagnostic tests per protocol.
• Urinalysis, hct, HbA1c, blood glucose, lead tests and pregnancy test.
• Operate and maintain clinical equipment and sterilize instruments.
• Prepare patients for examinations and tests; document and schedule appointments.
• Confirm insurance eligibility and next day appointments; ensure proper disposal of medical waste.
