Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers with patient care, rooming patients, and handling clerical tasks. The role includes scheduling, chart management, and providing patients with information to utilize services.

The position requires a High School diploma (or equivalent) and MA certificate program or related licensure; one year of relevant experience is preferred. BLS certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; MA certificate program or CNA/EMT/Paramedic preferred.
• 1 year of experience in medical assisting or equivalent required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with patient care and rooming; collect vitals and specimens.
• Perform administrative tasks: scheduling, chart management, imaging/lab orders, referrals.
• Maintain patient records in EPIC and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Convey instructions to patients and families; provide resource materials as instructed.
• Set up instruments and maintain infection control in the exam rooms.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
