Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit, MI is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to support both clinical and administrative workflows across ambulatory care settings. Under supervision, you will greet patients, document histories, obtain vital signs, prepare for examinations, and assist providers during procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a Medical Assistant program with externship or equivalent experience, BLS-C, and EPIC EMR familiarity; external orientation will be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of Medical Assistant program with 160-hour externship.
• One year of clinical medical assisting within the past five years.
• Current BLS-C certification upon hire.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort patient to exam room and prepare for examination, procedure, and treatment.
• Obtain vital signs and record in the EHR.
• Obtain patient history employing critical thinking skills.
• Prepare for, set up and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments per protocols.
• Prepare, administer, and document medications/immunizations as ordered.
• Document care provided during patient visit in the EHR.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies.
• Enter medication, radiology, and lab orders in the EHR per protocol.
• Discharge patient with after-visit instructions.
