Job summary

Mercy Health in Lima, OH is seeking a Medical Assistant at St. Rita's Medical Center to support direct and indirect patient care under physician supervision.

The role involves taking vital signs, preparing patients, documenting data, and assisting with procedures, with adherence to clinical standards. The position requires completing an approved Medical Assistant program within 30 days of employment and active MA certification within 12 months (or ABR-OE in some cases).

Qualifications

• High School/GED is required.
• Enrollment in an approved Medical Assistant program is required within 30 days of employment.
• Active Medical Assisting certification within 12 months is required from CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA (some certifications have state restrictions).
• BLS Basic Life Support is required at hire for certain Mercy locations.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the provider, assists with patient care and data collection.
• Identifies significant changes in patient condition and reports to the provider.
• Documents patient information, vital signs, and chief complaints.
• Administers medications as directed by a physician (per scope).
• Performs routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
• Performs general office duties and supports front/back office operations.
