Job summary

LCMC Health in Covington, VA is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support medical technologists in inpatient and outpatient settings. Under supervision you will collect blood specimens, label and process them to aid diagnosis, while maintaining professionalism and patient confidentiality.

You will set up procedures, perform tests, respond to specimen receipts via the LIS and pneumatic tube system, manage supplies, and assist with specimen collection.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or 1 year of directly related experience.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Evenings shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Assist medical technologists with procedural setup and specimen labeling.
• Set up testing procedures and perform laboratory testing.
• Process and distribute specimens and enter collection information in LIS.
• Monitor reagents and inventory; notify team of low items.
• Assist with specimen collection and determine collection requirements.
