Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Lab Assistant to collect, prepare, and process a variety of patient specimens for diagnostic tests. The role requires attention to detail, ongoing learning, and strong teamwork within a busy lab environment.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate patient identification, courteous interactions, and efficient workflow. Preference for MLS/Phlebotomy training and WA phlebotomy credentialing readiness.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (through AHA) - CPR, within 90 days.
• Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist: WA within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Practices positive patient identification at all times.
• Practices kindness and courtesy with patients and coworkers.
• Establishes and maintains good communication within the department and with other hospital departments.
• Takes responsibility for the department workflow and assists all members of the team.
• Creates an atmosphere that fosters teamwork and collaboration.
• Processes specimens into the lab, organized for distribution.
