Job summary

Frederick Health Hospital is seeking a part-time Patient Transport Associate to support patient movement within the hospital. You will transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher, assist with transfers, and help ensure timely deliveries of items between departments, while upholding FH standards of behavior and patient privacy.

Role involves lifting, positioning, and assisting nursing staff, using proper body mechanics, and communicating with patients using AIDET to maintain high satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Ability to interact effectively with patients, staff and the public.
• Ability to perform duties with minimal direction.
• Safe body mechanics when handling patients, supplies and equipment.
• Ability to safely operate beds, stretchers, wheelchairs and patient lifts.
• Physically demanding environment is expected.
• Confidential handling of patient and staff information.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients between nursing departments within established time frames.
• Assist with patient discharge transports when needed.
• Record department requests in Meditech per guidelines.
• Transport patients to the morgue with respect and dignity.
• Assist with lifting, turning and positioning of patients.
• Use AIDET when communicating with patients to improve satisfaction.
• Ensure oxygen is set correctly and available for transports.
• Move IV pumps, fluids, drains and NG tubes safely.
• Care for patient clothing and personal property during transport.
• Collaborate with team to support patient care and service.
