The role involves transporting patients of varying consciousness levels throughout the facility using wheelchairs, gurneys, and beds, while adhering to Safe Patient Handling standards and safety protocols. Collaboration with call centers and units ensures efficient transport and bed availability.

Qualifications

• BART or BLS/CPR certification at time of hire (with commitment to get BART within six months).
• Six months experience in a healthcare facility; or two years inpatient transport elsewhere for Tech II eligibility.
• Must stand and walk for long periods; must lift over 50 pounds and push/pull a gurney or bed with patients up to 300 pounds.
• Must be able to independently move an empty bed.
• Willingness to work overtime weekends to meet department needs.

Responsibilities

• Transport conscious, semi-conscious, and unconscious patients using wheelchairs, gurneys, and hospital beds.
• Assist with patient lifting, turning, repositioning, and transfers requiring assistance.
• Transport medical equipment, oxygen cylinders, medical records, imaging materials, and other items as requested by departments.
• Coordinate with Transport Call Center, Nursing units, and Imaging departments to prioritize transports and improve workflow.
