Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Patient Transport Technician to support patient care operations by safely and efficiently transporting patients throughout the facility. Primary duties include handling wheelchairs, gurneys, and beds, assisting with transfers, and supporting hospital operations through equipment transport.

The role requires collaboration with the Transport Call Center, Nursing units, and Imaging departments to optimize workflow and patient throughput.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months experience in a healthcare facility.
• Certification in BART or BLS/CPR at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods and lift over 50 pounds.
• Ability to push/pull a gurney or bed with patients up to 300 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients safely and efficiently using wheelchairs, gurneys, and hospital beds.
• Assist with lifting, turning, repositioning, and transfers for patients requiring assistance.
• Transport medical equipment, oxygen cylinders, medical records, and imaging materials.
• Coordinate with Transport Call Center, Nursing units, and Imaging departments to prioritize transports.
• Identify equipment issues and submit service requests to IT, Biomedical Engineering, and Facilities.
