Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a CNA with hospital experience to support registered nurses in daily patient care, document vital signs in the EMR, and assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges. The role includes patient positioning, basic labs, and ensuring safety and infection prevention standards are met.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED/HSED and be prepared to obtain BLS certification within 45 days.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
• Certification Addendum requirements for hospital-based certifications (DNV, CARF or others).

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily patient care including bathing, hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
• Records and documents vitals and patient data in the EMR.
• Performs rounding and communicates patient needs to RN.
• Assists in admission, transfer and discharge processes and room setup.
• Collects specimens and performs point-of-care testing as directed.
• Fulfills errands and manages stock for nursing area; cleans equipment and workspaces.
• Positions patients and assists with transfers; supports nutritional needs and diet management.
• Maintains skin integrity and provides necessary patient supplies and devices.
• May remove IVs, provide post-mortem care, and perform bladder scans per site requirements.
• Follows infection prevention policies and demonstrates age-appropriate patient care.
