Job summary

UnitedHealth Group’s Wayne-based hospice program seeks a Chaplain/Spiritual Caregiver to provide compassionate spiritual support to patients and families. The role collaborates with an Interdisciplinary Team to address emotional and spiritual needs while upholding respectful, inclusive care.

Qualifications include 2+ years in health care or pastoral work, 2+ CPD units or a related degree, and endorsement from a faith group.

Qualifications

• 2+ units of Clinical Pastoral Education or Bachelor’s degree in theology, divinity, pastoral care, philosophy, religion or related discipline
• 2+ years of experience in a health care setting and/or related pastoral experience
• Documentation of current endorsement or acceptable language by a recognized faith tradition
• Good standing with spiritual group with no ethical charges current or pending
• Current driver's license and access to reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual care to Hospice patients and families
• Engage in spiritual conversations respectfully, guiding without imposing beliefs
• Access and refer to a wide range of spiritual resources
• Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team and contribute to IDG discussions
• Provide spiritual/emotional support to Hospice staff when needed
